Maples Group Recognised as Offshore Firm of the Year Including Six Standout Asia Deals of the Year
Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is pleased to announce that the firm has once again been named “Offshore Firm of the Year”, while its Asia practices have received a number of Deals of the Year and Matter of the Year awards at the Asia Legal Awards 2024 and IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2024 respectively.

Debt Restructuring

Loans & Financings
- Debt & Equity-linked Deal of the Year – NIO offers US$1 billion convertible senior notes. Led by Finance Partner Lorraine Pao with assistance from Finance Of Counsel, Irena Wu.
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Private Equity Deal of the Year – Chindata privatisation. Led by Corporate Partner, Karen Zhang Pallaras with assistance from Corporate Of Counsel, Vivian Lee.
- Domestic Deal of the Year – Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) US$13 billion take-private of Toshiba. Led by Funds Partner, Sharon Yap with assistance from Associate, Kai Liu.
Significantly, Bain’s US$3.16 billion take-private of Chindata in particular, has been awarded as Private Equity Deal of the Year at the Asia Legal Awards, while also receiving a corresponding recognition at the IFLR APAC 2024. Prior to these awards, it was recognised as one of China Deals of the Year 2023.
