The firm was also positioned as best in the ‘Sponsoring Brokers of serviced funds’ category with 291 funds.
Adam Donoghue, Co-Head of the Irish Funds & Investment Management practice, welcomed the report: “We are delighted to maintain our position as the leading legal adviser to Irish-Serviced funds for the 11th consecutive year. Our market-leading Irish Funds and Investment Management practice advised over 1,600 funds in 2023. This included the full spectrum of Irish-domiciled structures, as well as a wide variety of products from other leading global fund domiciles which required advice and support from our Irish team.
As a result of acting on that volume of product, as well as being part of a wider global funds practice who advise across other leading fund domiciles, we have a well-rounded exposure to cutting-edge product trends and innovative fund structures in the industry. This experience, in addition to having the largest specialist investment funds team in Ireland, enables us to support our global clients in the most efficient and effective way. Our mission is to continue to be the best funds practice not only in Ireland, but globally”.
Looking at the year ahead, Eimear O’Dwyer, Co-Head of the Irish Funds & Investment Management practice, noted: “We anticipate that our work in the areas of digital assets, private funds, infrastructure and particularly sustainable finance will continue to accelerate sharply in response to growing demand from asset managers and investors. Along with our fiduciary and fund services colleagues, we now offer a comprehensive range of ESG services across the Maples Group.
Separately, we are excited by the opportunities that the revamped ELTIF product will create, in offering private wealth and retail investors exposure to alternative asset classes. We expect the enhanced ELTIF regime to provide a steady stream of new launches for our Irish and Luxembourg funds practices in particular.”
