Maples Group appoints Emre Akan as Partner to Luxembourg Tax Group

Maples and Calder (Luxembourg) SARL, the Maples Group’s law firm in Luxembourg, is pleased to announce the appointment of Emre Akan as a Partner in its Tax Group, effective Monday, 5 January 2026.

Emre joins from DLA Piper and brings significant experience advising on Luxembourg and international corporate tax matters from Luxembourg, Paris and New York.

Emre’s appointment reflects the firm’s commitment to continue expanding its tax advisory capabilities in response to growing demand for sophisticated tax advice and transactional support to international clients structuring investment funds, special purpose entities and companies in Luxembourg. In addition, the firm provides tax compliance services to support the entities that we establish for clients.

Specialising in the tax aspects of cross-border private equity, real estate and debt investments, Emre also has deep expertise in the tax structuring of investment funds and advising asset managers, financial institutions and multinational corporations on complex transactions. His experience includes leading high-profile engagements such as the structuring of pan-European private equity funds and advising on multi-jurisdictional reorganisations and capital markets transactions.
