Founded in 2018, Stoneshield is a leading European real assets investment firm with approximately €8 billion in assets under management. The firm invests across structurally supply-constrained sectors, including digital infrastructure, living, innovation, hospitality and critical infrastructure, and has offices in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the UK and Luxembourg.
The transaction marks an important milestone in Stoneshield’s growth and will see the business become Clarion Partners’ dedicated opportunistic investment platform in Europe, further strengthening Clarion’s European real assets capabilities.
Maples and Calder (Luxembourg) SARL acted as lead Luxembourg counsel to Stoneshield and has advised the business since its inception, supporting the establishment and development of its investment structures as the platform has grown. Maples and Calder (Ireland) LLP also advised on the Irish matters and regulatory aspects of the transaction.
The cross-border team was led by Johan Terblanche, Luxembourg Managing Partner and Head of Luxembourg Funds & Investment Management and included Partners Donnchadh McCarthy (Funds & Investment Management), Arnaud Arrecgros (Finance) and Emre Akan (Tax), Of Counsel Owen Rowlands (Funds & Investment Management) and Associate Bianca Tavarelli (Funds & Investment Management) in Luxembourg. The Dublin team comprised Partners Philip Keegan (Funds & Investment Management) and Lorna Smith (Financial Services Regulatory), together with Associate Fiona McGreal (Financial Services Regulatory).
We are delighted to have advised Stoneshield on this important milestone. Having worked alongside the firm since its inception, we have had the privilege of supporting its growth into a leading European real assets platform. Working closely with our Irish colleagues enabled us to provide coordinated, seamless support across both jurisdictions throughout this transaction. This transaction is a testament to the strength of the Stoneshield team, its investment strategy and the quality of its platform. We are proud to have continued to support Stoneshield throughout this significant stage in its development.
