Maples Group Advises Nomura on Launch of Fund Providing Exposure to Bond Plus 7.0
Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is pleased to announce that its Japanese Funds practice recently advised Global Funds Trust Company (“GFTC”) on the launch of Bond Plus 7.0 (the “Fund”). The Fund launched on 16 June 2023 and is authorised for public offering in Japan.

The Fund’s investment objective is to seek income gains and asset growth through obtaining exposure to the performance of the Bond Plus 7.0 strategy and investing in USD denominated high-quality short-term instruments. The Fund’s investment manager is Sompo Asset Management Co., Ltd. Nomura Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. will provide fund administration and custody services.
A team based in the Group’s law firm in Singapore acted as Cayman Islands legal counsel to GFTC and was led by Funds & Investment Management Partner, Nick Harrold and assisted by Associate, Costa Valtas and Paralegal, Veronica Chen.
Commenting on the transaction, Nick noted, “We are seeing strong demand in 2023 from retail investors in Japan who wish to obtain exposure to proprietary rules-based strategies. The Fund also incorporates a currency overlay feature that we anticipate will be of further interest to investors.”
