Nick is Head of Office in the Maples Group’s Jersey office. He advises financial institutions, investment managers, investors and their onshore counsel on the structuring, formation and operation of a wide range of investment fund structures. His expertise includes private equity funds, with particular experience in infrastructure and real estate, extending hedge funds and particularly funds of hedge funds with a broad range of strategies. Nick has advised clients on a wide variety of fund-related transactions, including manager-related M&A activity, seed capital investments, fund restructurings (including related Volcker issues), secondaries deals and manager ownership, incentivisation and succession structures. He also advises financial institutions, private equity sponsors and public and private businesses on a full range of corporate transactions. Nick’s extensive experience includes IPOs, public and private M&A, joint ventures, buyouts, restructurings (including demergers and spin-outs), debt financings and security arrangements, as well as management incentive structures. In addition, he regularly provides regulatory advice for financial services business and funds.
Nick works closely with Rebecca Hayward to lead and develop the Professional Support Lawyer function to support the increasing needs of the evolving Maples Group business and those of its clients.
Nick joined the Maples Group in 2000 and was elected as a partner in 2005. He previously worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London. Nick has been recommended as a leading funds and corporate lawyer in Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.
