OVERVIEW

Nick is a partner of Maples and Calder's Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team in the Maples Group's Hong Kong office. With over 20 years' experience working in London and Hong Kong, Nick's practice focuses on complex multi-jurisdictional disputes. He has particular expertise with insolvency and restructuring-related disputes, shareholder disputes, schemes of arrangement and other court-led restructurings. His recent track record includes a number of the most significant and largest restructuring mandates in Asia, acting for China Evergrande Group, Country Garden, Modern Land, Logan, Sunac, E-House and a number of other Chinese property developers on their offshore restructurings. 

 

BACKGROUND

Nick joined the Maples Group in 2020 in the Hong Kong office. Before that he worked in the disputes and restructuring/insolvency teams at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for eight years in London and then three years in Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong, he headed the Freshfields' restructuring team in Asia. He is listed as a leading individual in the Asia Pacific Legal 500, and is a member of the International Insolvency Institute.
