Maples Group "Top Class" and "Go to Firm" According to 2024 Chambers Global Guide

15 Feb 2024

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group's law firm, is pleased to announce it has once again earned top rankings in the 2024 edition of the Chambers Global Guide. The firm received 21 practice group placements and 63 individual lawyer accolades across its British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dubai, Jersey, Hong Kong, Ireland, London, Luxembourg and Singapore practices.

The firm was praised as a "top-class international law firm" with the ability to "handle complex multi-jurisdictional issues seamlessly" and provide "well-considered, commercial solutions to complex issues". Impressively, 21 of the firm's practice groups received a ranking this year, an increase from 19 placements in 2023, with 10 of its core practice groups receiving the top spot of a 'Band 1' ranking.

The number of global lawyers ranked also increased to 63 this year, with six senior Partners receiving the prestigious 'Eminent Practitioner' title, specifically Michael Gagie (Asia), Matthew Gardner (Cayman Islands), Scott Macdonald (Cayman Islands), Jonathan Green (Cayman Islands), Peter Stapleton (Ireland) and Heidi de Vries (London).

The firm's lawyers were described as "highly responsive and detail-oriented", who are "very knowledgeable, nimble and agile" and who give clients "clear and precise legal advice with clear opinions and strategy."

Commenting on the rankings, Global Managing Partner, Jonathan Green said, "We are immensely grateful for the recognition and praise received from our clients and Chambers across our international practices. It is fantastic to see even more of our lawyers and practices recognised this year, a reflection both of the strength and depth of the number of our subject matter experts as well as our dedication to providing clients with the market-leading international services and solutions that matter to them."

The rankings and reviews are based on interviews with the firm's global clients and industry peers, alongside an analysis of work undertaken over the past 12 months.

The first Chambers rankings were published in 1990 and the guides currently research over 200 jurisdictions worldwide.  Individual lawyers are ranked based on their legal knowledge, experience, ability, effectiveness and client service. Law firm departments are ranked on the qualities of their lawyers as well as the effectiveness and capability of the department.
