The Maples Group recently held its biennial review of various global and local management positions. Aside from succession planning and some notable appointments following a few retirements, the management team continues essentially unchanged across the global organisation.

The Maples Group recently held its biennial review of various global and local management positions. Aside from succession planning and some notable appointments following a few retirements, the management team continues essentially unchanged across the global organisation.
Peter Stapleton succeeds Nicholas Butcher (who has retired from the firm) as Ireland Managing Partner. Michael Gagie (Asia), Richard May (British Virgin Islands), Matthew Gardner (Cayman Islands), Manuela Belmontes and Philip Ireland (Dubai), Nick Evans* (Jersey), Heidi de Vries (London) and Johan Terblanche (Luxembourg) continue as Local / Regional Office Managing Partners.
Aristos Galatopoulos (Dispute Resolution & Insolvency), Scott Macdonald (Finance) and Tim Frawley (Regulatory) continue as Global Practice Group Leaders. Following the retirements of Edward Miller (Corporate) and Jon Fowler (Funds), going forward Kieran Walsh and Matthew Gardner will be joint Global Practice Group Leaders (Corporate) and Michael Richardson will be the Global Practice Group Leader (Funds). Michael Gagie continues as Head of the firm’s BVI law practice, globally.
A number of new Local and Regional Practice Group Leader appointments were also made in Asia, the Cayman Islands and Ireland across the firm’s core practice areas as follows:
• Following Anthony Webster’s retirement, Ann Ng will continue in the role (previously shared with Anthony Webster) as Asia Region Practice Group Leader for Funds & Investment Management.
• James Eldridge and Caroline Moran will assume the role of joint Local Practice Group Leaders for the Cayman Islands Dispute Resolution & Insolvency practice.
• Adam Donoghue and Eimear O’Dwyer will assume the role of joint Local Practice Group Leaders of the Irish Funds & Investment Management practice while Colm Rafferty will continue in the role (previously shared with Edward Miller) as Local Practice Group Leader for the Irish Corporate practice.
