Maples Group Wins Multiple Law Firm Awards and Leading Individual Recognitions in Asia

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is delighted to continue to be recognised as a market leader in Asia throughout 2021, having been named “Offshore Law Firm of the Year” by numerous Asia and international publications. The firm’s Asia-based lawyers were also recognised by independent commentators at a various industry awards programmes for their expertise and service excellence across its core practice areas.

Notably, the firm scooped a total of five “Offshore Law Firm of the Year” awards throughout 2021.  These included the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards, China Business Law Awards, Asia Legal Awards, ALB China Law Awards and HFM Asia Services Awards, respectively. These add to our track record of over 40 awards in this category in Asia in the past decade.

Asia Managing Partner Michael Gagie and Partner Everton Robertson were commended in China Business Law Journal’s A-List 2021 and were among the top 100 foreign firm lawyers for China-related business and top100 PRC lawyers.

Ann Ng, Partner and Head of Asia Funds & Investment Management practice, was recognised as a top female practitioner in investment funds in Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Expert Guides 2021  and was also shortlisted for “Private Practitioner of the Year, North Asia” awards at ALB Women in Law Awards 2021.

John Trehey, Partner and Head of Asia Dispute Resolution & Insolvency practice, was named one of the Top 15 Offshore Litigators 2021 by Asia Legal Business.

Aisling Dwyer, Partner in the Asia Dispute Resolution & Insolvency practice, was awarded the 2021 Fetner Award by International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and shortlisted for “Litigator of the Year, North Asia” at ALB Women in Law Awards 2021.  She was also recognised by multiple leading publications including Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Expert Guides 20211, Asian Legal Business as one of the Top 15 Offshore Litigators 2021 and listed as a Who’s Who Legal Thought Leader – Mainland China & Hong Kong SAR 2021 in the field of restructuring and insolvency.

Sharon Yap, Partner of Funds & Investment Management practice, was recognised as a top female practitioner in investment funds in Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Expert Guides 20211 and ranked within Who’s Who Legal’s Global Leaders in Private Funds – Formation 2022 and Thought Leaders – Mainland China & Hong Kong SAR – Private Funds 2021.
