Maples Group Supports SKY Leasing on Latest Aviation ABS

The Maples Group’s global Asset Finance team is pleased to have supported SKY Leasing (“SKY”) on its latest aircraft lease asset back securitisation (“ABS”) issuance, SLAM 2026-1, valued at approximately US$813 million. The transaction closed in May 2026.

The Maples Group’s multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional Asset Finance team provided Cayman Islands and Irish legal advice, listing agent, share trustee and AML services to SKY and worked closely with Vedder Price P.C, US legal counsel to SKY.

The team included Jonathon Meloy, Cayman Islands Head of Finance; Anthony Philp, co-head of the Cayman Islands Asset Finance team; and Jonathan Brown, Associate, from the firm’s Cayman Islands office. From the firm’s Irish office, the team included Mary O’Neill, Partner; and Eoin O’Leary, Of Counsel. From the Maples Group’s Fiduciary team, Senior Vice President Phillip Hinds and Vice President Samuel Maguire, and AML compliance officer Khalesiah Barboram assisted with the transaction.

The transaction contains Class A and E notes. The Class A notes are listed on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange. The proceeds will be used to acquire a portfolio of 28 commercial aircraft made up of 24 narrowbody aircraft, three widebody aircraft and one turboprop aircraft on lease to 16 lessees located in 14 jurisdictions.
