Maples Group Strengthens Accounting Expertise with Asia Hire
The Maples Group has expanded its Asia client accounting team with the appointment of David Bakker as Senior Vice President in Singapore.

The Maples Group, a leading service provider offering clients a comprehensive range of legal, fiduciary, fund, regulatory and compliance, and entity formation and management services, has announced the appointment of David Bakker as a Senior Vice President in Singapore.
David brings more than 15 years of professional client facing experience leading financial reporting teams and working with North American investment and real estate managers. His diverse reporting experience includes work for investment holding companies, leveraged acquisition and structured finance vehicles and family offices. He also brings expertise in US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. David began his career in audit for Big 4 accounting firms before transitioning to an independent fund administrator and then overseeing the middle office and financial reporting functions for a multi-family office. He re-joins the Maples Group team in Singapore after working in the Group’s Cayman Islands and Montreal offices where he managed reporting for portfolio of private equity special purpose vehicles and structured finance entities. He was also instrumental in establishing the Montreal client accounting team which has grown to over 30 service professionals in just six years. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and holds the Certified Public Accountant (Ontario, Canada) and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.
David will be responsible for overseeing and growing the Asia client accounting teams in Hong Kong and Singapore. The teams’ core service offerings include accounting, financial statement preparation and bank administration. Leveraging the Group’s global reach, they work with Hong Kong and Singapore entities as well as entities incorporated in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and United States.
