Maples Group Provides Cayman Islands Legal Assistance to ALAFCO on US$3.3 Billion Aircraft Transaction
The Maples Group is pleased to have advised ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company K.S.C.P. (“ALAFCO”) on the sale of its aviation leasing business to Macquarie AirFinance. This significant transaction, valued at US$3.3 billion, included the sale of a portfolio consisting of 76 aircraft and an order book for 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The Maples Group is pleased to have advised ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company K.S.C.P. (“ALAFCO”) on the sale of its aviation leasing business to Macquarie AirFinance. This significant transaction, valued at US$3.3 billion, included the sale of a portfolio consisting of 76 aircraft and an order book for 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
A multi-disciplinary team of lawyers and professionals based in the Maples Group’s Dubai and Cayman Islands offices advised ALAFCO on the Cayman Islands legal aspects of the transaction and was led by Dubai Joint Managing Partner, Manuela Belmontes, and Cayman Islands Finance Partner, Shari Howell with support from Of Counsel, Gurminder Sanghera, and Associates, Barbara Kramarz and Sorcha O’Keefe.
Additionally, the Group’s Fiduciary Services teams in Dubai and the Cayman Islands were led by Norbert Neijzen, Regional Head of Fiduciary, and Phillip Hinds, Senior Vice President, respectively who were assisted by Jamie Sanford, Vice President, Neha Barnwal, Assistant Vice President and Marieke van Driel, Assistant Vice President.
