Maples Group Maintains Leading Positions in 2023 Asia Pacific Legal Directories

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is pleased to announce that its Asia Pacific offices have maintained top-tier rankings in the 2023 editions of Chambers Asia Pacific[1] and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific[2].

The firm was ranked in Band 1 for Offshore: Asia Pacific where it was described as having ‘the most comprehensive service capabilities among its peers‘ and ‘extremely strong technically and very commercial in their approach.’  Notably, this year marks the twelfth year of inclusion in the guide.

In addition to the firm ranking, four Partners received individual accolades with Michael Gagie, the firm’s Asia Regional Managing Partner, receiving the ‘Eminent Practitioner’ distinction, the highest level of recognition given by the directory.

Legal 500 Asia Pacific

The Hong Kong and Singapore offices ranked in Band 1 and Band 2, respectively, and were acknowledged as ‘a market leader in the offshore funds space‘ by clients.

The team received praise for being ‘outstanding legal team led by top of the class Matt Roberts with strong senior associates supporting the practice‘.

Hong Kong Partners Ann Ng, John Trehey, Aisling Dwyer, Nick Stern, Terence Ho and Singapore Partners Michael Gagie and Matt Roberts received the ‘Leading Individuals’ distinction. Josie Ainley was acknowledged for her expertise under the ‘Rising Stars’ category.

These rankings follow a successful year for the Group’s Asia Pacific team who received other ‘Offshore Firm of the Year’ awards throughout 2022.  More recently, the team received 11 ‘Deals of the Year’ awards by China Business Law Journal[3].
