Maples Group Expands Senior Fiduciary Team in Ireland

The Maples Group continues to expand in Ireland and is pleased to announce the addition of four highly experienced professionals to its senior fiduciary services team, strengthening the provision of specialist management and compliance services to companies, investment funds and financing structures.

These strategic appointments representing decades of combined expertise, reflect continued demand for EU-compliant Irish domiciled vehicles in cross-border investment and the Group’s corporate governance and entity management services, alongside accounting and corporate administration. Today’s announcement follows the recent appointment of three new Partners to the Group’s law firm, Maples and Calder (Ireland) LLP.

Relocating to Dublin as Head of Company Secretarial, Shane Toomey will spearhead the Group’s company secretarial team, which is notably one of the largest teams of its kind in Ireland.  Shane has particular expertise in board meeting support and corporate governance services to regulated investment funds, holding companies and structured finance vehicles.  He is a qualified chartered secretary, having previously worked in the Group’s Cayman Islands and Hong Kong offices.

Siobhán Lawlor also joins the Group’s fiduciary services team as a Senior Vice President. She is a chartered accountant, specialising in supporting multi-national companies in the aircraft leasing industry.  Siobhán has over 20 years’ post-qualification experience, having held senior multi-disciplinary positions with a number of major accounting firms in Ireland.

Alongside the appointments of Shane and Siobhán, chartered management accountant, Charlie McGinley joins the firm as a Senior Vice President.  Charlie also specialises in accounting and reporting for the aircraft leasing sector, having previously worked with leading companies, AWAS and DAE, with over 15 years’ experience in the industry.

Completing this round of new hires is structured finance specialist, Fergus O’Donnell, who has been appointed Vice President.  Fergus has considerable experience in capital markets, notably in banking and securitisation, overseeing a portfolio of SPVs participating in a broad range of asset and structured finance transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

“The Maples Group is a major employer in Ireland with almost 500 people based across our two offices in Dublin. We are delighted to announce the expansion of our senior fiduciary services team with the appointments of Shane, Siobhán, Charlie and Fergus, who all bring a wealth of experience from the financial sector,” said Stephen O’Donnell, Global Head of Fiduciary with the Maples Group.

“Our Dublin financial services office continues to grow, as our clients from around the world leverage Ireland’s flexible and well-regulated framework in ever-increasing numbers,” Stephen added.  “The headcount in our Dublin fiduciary services team currently exceeds 160 and we anticipate adding at least another 20 people to that number this year.  With our long established presence in Dublin and the support of our global institutional infrastructure, we can provide complete solutions to clients, based on an in-depth knowledge and expertise of regulatory and investor requirements and best practice.”

The Maples Group’s Dublin office opened in 2006 and has grown exponentially over the past 17 years, developing an award-winning team of professionals. The Group provides full service and specialty legal services through its international law firm, Maples and Calder, and fiduciary and fund services through its financial services firm, MaplesFS. Globally, the Group comprises nearly 3000 professionals in 16 locations worldwide.
