Maples Group Advises Nomura on Launch of Nomura Fund Select – Goldman Sachs Private Credit Strategies Fund

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is pleased to announce that its Asia Funds & Investment Management practice has advised Global Funds Trust Company (“GFTC”), a member of the Nomura Group, on the launch of Nomura Fund Select – Goldman Sachs Private Credit Strategies Fund (the “Fund”).

The Fund, which launched on 27 November 2024, is structured as a Cayman Islands unit trust and is authorised for public offering in Japan.

The Fund will be distributed in Japan by Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. and the Fund’s investment adviser is Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd.

The Fund’s investment objectives are to seek to generate high income and, to a lesser extent, deliver long-term capital appreciation The Fund will seek to gain exposure to private credit investments by investing substantially all of its assets, either directly or indirectly, in Goldman Sachs Private Credit Corp. and European Credit, a sub-fund of Goldman Sachs Alternatives SICAV.

A team of lawyers based in the firm’s Singapore office acted as Cayman Islands counsel to GFTC and was led by Funds & Investment Management Partner, Nick Harrold and assisted by Associate, Aidan O’Regan and Paralegal, Veronica Chen.

Commenting on the transaction, Nick Harrold said, “The growing interest of Japanese investors in private markets, especially in private credit, highlights the evolving landscape of asset allocation. The Fund’s launch is not only timely but also strategically aligned with current market trends.”
