Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is pleased to have advised Navis Capital Partners (“Navis”), a leading private equity firm in South East Asia, on the launch of its newly structured Navis Next Generation Fund (“the Fund”) with US$230 million in capital commitments. The fund, which was oversubscribed, was led by TPG NewQuest with participation from a broad syndicate of global investors.

Founded in 1998, Navis manages over US$5 billion in private equity and private credit capital and focuses on investments primarily in Asia.

A team of lawyers based in the firm’s Singapore office acted as Cayman Islands legal counsel to Navis. The team was led by Funds & Investment Management Partner, Iain Anderson, and assisted by Associate, Rachel Koh, and Senior Paralegal, Winnie Lin. The Maples Group’s Fund Services team, Wendy Heng – Vice President and Nigel Ng – Assistant Vice President, provided Registrar and Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information (AEOI) services, and Matthew Li – AML Compliance Officer, provided AML services to the Fund.

Commenting on the transaction, Iain said, “It has been a pleasure to work with Navis to help execute the launch of this education-focused fund. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Navis and supporting their team in driving the next stage of growth.”

The Maples Group has the largest offshore Funds & Investment Management team in the Asia Pacific region, with specialist lawyers based in Hong Kong and Singapore, advising investment managers on a wide range of matters, including fund launches, high-profile portfolio investments and divestments, secondaries deals and top-tier restructurings.
