The Maples Group advised Blackstone on the formation and final close of Blackstone Life Sciences VI, a record-breaking US$6.3 billion life sciences fund, providing Cayman Islands and Irish legal, company secretarial and compliance services.

The Maples Group is pleased to have advised Blackstone on the formation and final close of Blackstone Life Sciences VI (“BXLS VI”), a US$6.3 billion life sciences fund. It is the largest life sciences private fund ever raised and is nearly 40% larger than its predecessor vehicle.

The Maples Group provided Cayman Islands and Irish legal advice, company secretarial, tax compliance and money laundering reporting officer (“MLRO”) services.

The multi-jurisdictional team of lawyers included Partners Julian Ashworth, Peter Stapleton, Pádraig Brosnan, Stef Dimitriou, James Meehan and Brock Colville, with support from Associates Ben Kennedy, Christopher Dudurovic and Cian Dennehy. The Fiduciary Services team in the Cayman Islands and Ireland included Senior Vice President Therese Galvey and Vice President Nikita Gunnery. The Regulatory & Compliance team in Ireland included MLRO Maria St. John.

Commenting on the transaction, Julian Ashworth said, “We are delighted to have assisted Blackstone on the final close of BXLS VI. This landmark fundraise underscores Blackstone’s continued leadership in the life sciences space, and we are proud to have supported the team throughout the formation process.”

Blackstone launched its dedicated Blackstone Life Sciences platform in 2018 to invest across the life cycle of companies and products in the key life sciences sectors.
