Cristiane brings to the role and to the Maples Group more than two decades of experience as a lawyer and senior manager, handling matters across an array of related practice areas including intellectual property as well as offshore companies and trusts, with focus on fiduciary services. Her work often is of a multi-jurisdictional scope; and has developed new lines of business across a firm’s Latin American practice. Before joining Maples, Cristiane worked as Head and Senior Manager at the BVI offices of multiple large corporate & trust and fund services providers.
A native of Brazil, Cristiane holds a law degree from the Universidade Estadual de Londrina and attended the post-graduation course in intellectual property from the Fundação Getulio Vargas, as well as a diploma and certificates in trust management from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”). Cristiane speaks fluent English, Portuguese and Spanish.
“We are excited to have someone with Cristiane’s significant local experience joining our global firm,” said Marc Randall, the head of Maples’ Global Voluntary Liquidations team. “I am looking forward to working with her to grow our liquidations and fiduciary business in the BVI.”
So that we can continue to provide best-in-class service in the BVI and beyond, including the new requirement that BVI voluntary liquidators be locally resident, Maples anticipates making further hires to join Cristiane in the company’s BVI team. That group, including Cristiane, is to report to Marc. The global Liquidations group has developed and adheres to best practices to ensure that the wind down of an entity, whether it is a fund, a private equity or structured finance vehicle, will be handled in accordance with local regulations and guidelines.
