OVERVIEW

Matthew is an associate of Maples and Calder's Finance team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office.  He has extensive experience advising both borrower and lender side clients on all stages of the funding lifecycle.  His clients include hedge funds, private equity funds, banks and non-bank lenders.  He regularly advises on fund finance and other lending transactions, structured finance, derivatives and all types of collateral and other credit support arrangements, including investor and creditor rights in the context of insolvency in the Cayman Islands.

BACKGROUND

Matthew trained and qualified at Slaughter and May in 2012, where he was an associate until joining the Maples Group in 2022.  During his time at Slaughter and May, Matthew maintained a broad practice advising corporates, sponsors, major investment banks and other financial institutions on a wide range of cross-border transactions, both financing and non-financing.  He has particular experience in relation to UK and Chapter 11 restructurings.
