OVERVIEW

James is an Associate of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's London office.  He practices Cayman Islands law and advises on the establishment, maintenance and governance requirements of a wide range of investment fund structures, in particular private equity and hedge funds.

BACKGROUND

James joined the Maples Group in 2023, having originally trained and qualified as a New Zealand lawyer, working in the Corporate Advisory team at the Lex Mundi member firm, Simpson Grierson in New Zealand. Besides his funds experience, James has also specialised in mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, and corporate governance advice for a range of New Zealand and international clients.
