OVERVIEW

Sheryl is head of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office.  She specialises in private equity fund structures and investments and represents a wide range of sponsors, from large institutions to boutique and start up investment managers, advising on the structuring, formation and operation of private funds and advising on downstream transactions and portfolio investments. Sheryl advises sponsors on their carry allocation and management vehicles. She also works on a number of related corporate transactions, including consortium deals and joint ventures, co-investments, buy-outs and restructurings. 

BACKGROUND

Sheryl joined the Maples Group in 2012, having been a partner at an international law firm in the Cayman Islands.  Prior to her move to the Cayman Islands, she worked in the corporate and M&A teams at Slaughter and May and Gibson Dunn, respectively, in London.  Sheryl began her legal career in the corporate team of Russell McVeagh in New Zealand.  Identified as a leading lawyer, she has been featured in Who's Who Legal publications and ranked by IFLR1000, Chambers and Partners and Legal 500.

Sheryl is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association and 100 Women in Finance.
