The Cayman Islands’ Department for International Tax Cooperation (“DITC“) has announced an extension to certain Principal Point of Contact (“PPoC“) submission requirements under the Amended Common Reporting Standard (“CRS“) framework.
The Tax Information Authority (the “TIA“) has extended the deadline to 31 January 2027 for two specific items: the appointment of a PPoC “in the Islands” and the date on which the entity became a Financial Institution (“FI“). This extended deadline applies to all Cayman FIs.
Separately, under the Tax Information Authority (International Tax Compliance) (Common Reporting Standard) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025, a Cayman FI (other than an exempted body) that became an FI in 2025 must still register on the DITC Portal by 30 April 2026.
The advisory applies to Cayman FIs required to register and maintain information on the DITC Portal (the “Portal“).
A PPoC is the person authorised by a Cayman FI to act as its primary contact with the TIA (via the DITC) for CRS purposes, and must be located in the Cayman Islands. A PPoC may be either a natural person or a legal person.
“In the Islands” means: for a natural person, having a physical address in the Cayman Islands; for a legal person, being incorporated, registered or established in the Cayman Islands and maintaining a physical address there (not merely a mailing or correspondence address).
PPoC details must be submitted and kept current on the Portal using the prescribed registration or change form. The Portal will require sufficient contact details to allow direct communication and timely responses; submissions lacking adequate information may be rejected or subject to follow‑up.
Cayman FIs should confirm Portal registration timelines, identify/appoint an eligible PPoC “in the Islands”, and ensure complete, accurate contact information is maintained ahead of the 31 January 2027 deadline for the specified items.
