British Virgin Islands Reminder: New Additional Information Form due 30 September

In April 2025, the British Virgin Islands International Tax Authority (“ITA”) updated the British Virgin Islands (“BVI”) Financial Account Reporting System (“FARS”) with the newly introduced additional information form or Common Reporting Standard (“CRS”) Compliance Form (“Additional Information Form”).

Annually, all Reporting Financial Institutions (“RFIs”) and Non- Reporting Financial Institutions (“NRFIs”) must now submit an Additional Information Form via the BVIFARS portal (the “Portal”) within nine months from the end of each financial period. The first filing deadline is 30 September 2025.

The Additional Information Form for NRFIs requires details of any changes of activities or structure during the reporting period, or confirmation of no such changes. The Additional Information Form for RFIs requires information in respect of the RFI’s financial account data, including type and jurisdiction of account holders, collection of self-certification forms and TINs, and the RFI’s CRS policies and procedures in order to support the RFI’s implementation of and compliance with CRS.

Additional resources on the Additional Information Form requirements include the ITA Guide to Completing the Additional Information Forms that is available here.
