Areas of Expertise

Vanessa is a partner of Maples and Calder’s Banking and Finance team in the Maples Group’s Dublin office. Vanessa has extensive experience advising a broad spectrum of lenders (Irish and International financial institutions, alternative lenders) and borrowers (trading companies, SPVs, funds, partnerships) on a range of domestic and cross-border finance transactions including real estate investment and development finance, fund finance (including subscription line financing), corporate debt, leveraged and acquisition finance, refinancings and restructurings.

Vanessa joined the Maples Group in 2016.  Prior to this, she spent six years working off-shore, most recently in Guernsey at Bedell Cristin, and in the British Virgin Islands. Vanessa won the Euromoney Women in Business Law EMEA Finance Rising Star award in 2021.  Vanessa has been ranked as a ‘Rising Star’ in both The Legal 500’s EMEA 2020-2022 guides and also in the IFLR 2020-2023 guide. Clients praise Vanessa for her “professional and practical manner” and recognise her as being “very competent, knowledgeable, efficient and decisive“.
