Areas of Expertise
John is a partner in the Finance practice and head of the Insurance practice in the Maples Group’s Cayman Islands office. He specialises in structured finance, corporate and commercial transactions, fund finance and insurance. His structured finance practice is focused on CLO transactions and insurance-linked securities. His insurance practice covers insurance regulatory matters, the licensing of insurance companies, financing transactions with insurance companies and general insurance matters.
John joined the Maples Group in 2001. He previously practised with Clifford Chance in London, where he completed a secondment to the fixed income desk at Lehman Brothers. Before that, he practised with Lang Michener (now McMillan) in Canada. John has been recommended for insurance and reinsurance by Who’s Who Legal and noted in Chambers Global and Legal 500 for catastrophe bond transactions.
John is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association.
