Andrew Ion

Andrew is Partner and Head of Maples and Calder’s Real Estate team in the Maples Group’s Dublin office, advising clients on all areas of commercial real estate.

Andrew has acted on some of the biggest real estate transactions in the Irish market over recent years. His wide ranging experience includes acting for domestic and international investors, financial institutions, commercial landlords, tenants, receivers and other clients on a variety of transactions including: commercial and residential development, multi-family / Private Rented Sector (PRS) / Build to Rent development, retail, hospitality, Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), property finance and secured lending (including forward funding arrangements), commercial leases, real estate aspects of telecommunications, and more generally the purchase, sale and general management of property and loan portfolios.

Andrew joined the Maples Group in 2026. He qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 2007, working with one of the largest law firms in the Scottish market. Andrew then moved to Ireland in 2014, where he was a partner in another leading Irish law firm.
