Two Caymanian Attorneys Begin Next Chapter with Maples Group

George Town, Cayman Islands, August 2026 – Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, has announced the admission of Caymanians Ryann Clarke and Michael Mclaughlin Murillo as Attorneys-at-Law in the Cayman Islands. After successfully progressing through the firm’s Articles of Clerkship programme, Ryann and Michael will join the Finance and Corporate teams, respectively, as Associates.

Their admissions were moved before The Honourable Justice Marlene Carter by Dispute Resolution & Insolvency Partner Quentin Cregan. The occasion marks an important milestone in their individual legal careers and underscores the Maples Group’s long-standing commitment to supporting Caymanian lawyers from education and training through to qualification.

Both have developed their legal careers with the firm through hands-on training, mentorship and exposure to sophisticated local and international matters. Their progression reflects the importance of creating clear pathways for aspiring Caymanian lawyers to gain meaningful experience and build long-term careers in the jurisdiction.

Finance

Ryann joined the Maples Group as an Articled Clerk in 2024 and gained experience across all five legal practice groups during her Articles of Clerkship, including Regulatory & Financial Services, Corporate, Dispute Resolution & Insolvency, Finance and Funds & Investment Management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Queen Mary University of London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from City St George’s, University of London. Initially interested in a career in politics, Ryann discovered a passion for law through its blend of analytical thinking and meaningful problem-solving. Following her training, she joined the Finance team as an Associate.

Corporate

Michael’s path reflects the firm’s long-term approach to developing local talent. He joined the Maples Group’s Articles of Clerkship programme in 2024, following three consecutive summer internships with the firm, and was a recipient of the Maples Group (Cayman Islands) Legal Scholarship from 2020 to 2024. He earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Cayman Islands, a Bachelor of Laws with Politics from the University of Manchester and an MSc Legal Practice Course (Integrated Master’s in Law, Business and Management) from the University of Law, London Moorgate. During his training, Michael gained experience across a broad range of practice areas before joining the Corporate team as an Associate.
