Nine Maples Group Partners Recognised in 12th Edition of Women in Business Law Expert Guide

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is proud to announce that nine of its Partners have been recognised in the Legal Media Group’s 2022 Women in Business Law Expert Guide. Partners from the firm’s Funds & Investment Management Dispute Resolution & Insolvency, Aviation, Privacy and Data Protection and Shipping practices were included in the latest Guide, which was published earlier last month.

About the Partners

Aisling Dwyer, Partner, Hong Kong

A barrister by training, Aisling specialises in complex, high value, international cross-border litigation and acts in some of Asia’s largest offshore corporate, insolvency / restructuring and shareholder disputes.  She is an expert in contentious matters and has a particular interest in take-privates, statutory mergers, contentious valuations and schemes of arrangement.

Ann Ng Partner, Hong Kong

Ann is head of the firm’s Funds & Investment Management teams in Hong Kong and Singapore.  She focuses on the international investment fund market.  Ann has expertise in the formation, structuring and restructuring of all types of open and closed end funds, including hedge funds, private equity and venture capital, real estate and infrastructure funds. Ann’s practice also involves advising a number of international family offices on their strategic investments. Ann speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Claire Morrissey, Partner, Ireland

Claire is head of the Data, Commercial & Technology team in the Ireland office. Claire is a leading adviser on data, technology and commercial contracts.  She has a particular focus on GDPR compliance and investigations, emerging technologies and complex sourcing projects.  Claire also regularly advises on the technology, IP and data aspects of joint ventures and mergers & acquisitions.

Donna Ager, Partner, London

Donna is head of the firm’s European Aviation team and leads the global Irish law Asset Finance practice.  She advises clients on tax-efficient leasing and financing structures, including investor funds and capital markets, in addition to leasing platform establishments and transportation business acquisitions and disposals with a focus on aviation, an area where she has specialised for over 16 years.  Donna has been praised by clients for her commerciality, industry knowledge and pragmatic approach.

Gwyneth Rees, Partner, Cayman Islands

Gwyneth works extensively with hedge fund managers and private equity sponsors and their onshore counsel on all aspects of the establishment, maintenance and restructuring of offshore investment funds.  She represents large global financial institutions and asset managers, as well as boutique and emerging managers.  Gwyneth has over 26 years’ experience advising on the formation and structuring of hedge, hybrid, credit and activist funds, private equity funds, cryptocurrency and digital asset funds and investment fund platforms.

Heidi de Vries, Managing Partner, London

Heidi is Managing Partner of firm’s London office.  She works closely with hedge fund managers, private equity houses and their onshore counsel in the hedge fund and private equity sectors.  She advises on both Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law and specialises in the structuring, formation, ongoing maintenance and restructuring of hedge funds and private equity funds, representing large financial institutions as well as boutique and start-up managers.

Sharon Yap, Partner, Hong Kong

Sharon is an investment funds and corporate lawyer who specialises in a wide range of funds including private equity, venture capital, infrastructure and real estate funds, hedge funds and in private equity upstream and downstream transactions.  Her broad experience includes advising on the structuring, formation, maintenance and re-structuring of funds and related vehicles, investment structuring, acquisition and disposal of assets, joint ventures, pre-IPO financing and fund financing involving a range of fund vehicles.  Sharon’s expertise has led her to be a regular speaker at funds seminars throughout Asia.

Sherice Arman, Partner, Cayman Islands

Sherice is head of the firm’s Cayman Islands Shipping practice.  She specialises in financing transactions, including banking and asset finance, fund and corporate finance and is recognised as an industry leader in asset finance, in particular for ship and aircraft finance.  Sherice also has significant experience in the field of regulated M&A transactions and regulatory advice.

Tina Meigh, Partner, Cayman Islands

Tina is head of the firm’s Cayman Islands Finance team.  She also leads the Fund Finance and Derivatives practice groups and has extensive experience in all aspects of banking, and securitisations.  Tina represents hedge funds, private equity funds and banks on fund finance and other lending transactions, bank products, deal structures and on all types of secured transactions.  She advises a large number of international associations and financial institutions on derivatives and issues surrounding related collateral packages in the context of insolvency in the Cayman Islands.  She also has significant experience of general corporate and commercial matters and the establishment of offshore investment funds. Tina sits on the Board and is Vice Chair of the Fund Finance Association, a non-profit association for the fund finance market.
