Maples Group Named on Hong Kong’s Inaugural “Go Global” Legal Services Panel

Maples Group’s law firm in Hong Kong, Maples and Calder (Hong Kong) LLP, is pleased to announce its inclusion on the inaugural Panel List of Hong Kong Legal Services Providers Supporting “Go Global” (the “Panel List”), published by the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the “DoJ”) on 14 April 2026 .

The Panel List comprises over 70 legal services providers in Hong Kong, including international arbitration institutions, practising barristers and 60 local, international and registered foreign law firms. All listed providers have demonstrated proven track records in supporting enterprises with overseas expansion. The Panel List, available on the DoJ’s website, categorises providers across 12 practice areas, including corporate governance, compliance and regulatory affairs, capital markets, banking and finance, taxation, intellectual property, data protection and cybersecurity, asset management and wealth succession, and dispute resolution.

The initiative forms part of the Hong Kong Professional Services GoGlobal Platform, established under the steer of the Deputy Secretary for Justice, Dr Cheung Kwok-kwan, to facilitate targeted connections between Mainland enterprises and Hong Kong’s professional services sector. Beyond a directory, the Panel List highlights providers’ professional strengths based on their track records and case submissions, enabling the Platform to act as a “golden matchmaker” for enterprises seeking high-quality legal support overseas.

Launched at the outset of the National 15th Five-Year Plan, which expressly supports Hong Kong’s role in leveraging its professional strengths to assist enterprises going global, the Panel List represents a timely step in reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as an international legal hub.

Ann Ng, Regional Managing Partner and Head of Funds and Investment Management, Asia, commented: “We are honoured to be included on the DoJ’s inaugural Panel List. This recognition reflects the breadth and depth of our expertise across Asia. Hong Kong’s unique role as a gateway between the Chinese Mainland and international markets makes it an ideal platform for enterprises going global.”

Matt Roberts, Partner and Head of Corporate, Asia, added: “Through my participation in DoJ led delegations to the Chinese Mainland in 2024 and 2026, I have seen firsthand the strong demand from Mainland enterprises for high-quality offshore legal services as they expand internationally. These engagements have reinforced both the practical challenges of going global and Hong Kong’s vital role as a bridge to international markets. Our inclusion on the Panel List reflects our commitment to supporting this important initiative.”

Service providers on the Panel List are also invited to submit their particulars to the GoGlobal Cross-sectoral Professional Services Platform established by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for business matching and consultation.
