Jonathan, who will assume the role for two years, succeeds Alasdair Robertson, who has served as Global Managing Partner since 2015.  Alasdair will return to full-time practice as a Finance partner, with a focus on supporting the transition to the new leadership, both at Group and practice level.

A well-regarded and “very knowledgeable” lawyer according to the Chambers and Partners Global Guide, Jonathan joined the firm in 2003, during which time he has held various leadership roles, including his most recent position as head of the Cayman Islands’ Funds & Investment Management team.

“It has been a privilege to be the firm’s Global Managing Partner and I have thoroughly enjoyed the role,” said Alasdair Robertson. “I am proud to say that the Group has experienced exceptional growth and development during that time which is testament to the hard work, commitment and valuable input by all of my colleagues globally. I extend my warmest congratulations to Jonathan, who is an incredible talent and who has demonstrated the necessary leadership skills to lead the Group into the future.”

Alasdair will also handover his responsibilities as Chairman of the Group’s fiduciary, fund, entity formation and management, and regulatory services businesses to Kieran Walsh, while Scott Somerville continues in the role as Chief Executive Officer.

Jonathan Green added, “Alasdair has done an outstanding job as our Global Managing Partner and I am both honoured and excited to take over the position. The Maples Group is a fantastic organisation with ambitious plans for the future and I look forward to continuing to work with our leadership teams and our exceptional employees to achieve our goals and provide our clients with the highest quality global service that enables them to accelerate and grow.”

  • Chris Byrne (Jersey)
  • Johan Terblanche (Luxembourg)
  • Mark Western (Hong Kong)

These appointments come at a particularly exciting time for the Maples Group as it closes out yet another remarkable year. Over the last 12 months, in addition to celebrating its two thousandth employee, the Group consolidated its offerings at Maples and Calder and MaplesFS under a single brand, now called the Maples Group.  The opening of several new offices brings the Group’s global presence to 18, further demonstrating its strong commitment to servicing a multinational client base and choosing locations that facilitate time zone efficiencies and enable a seamless, multilingual service.
