The Maples Group’s global Asset Finance team is pleased to have advised Avolon on the establishment of its US$1.5 billion commercial paper programme, which closed in August 2026.
The Maples Group provided Cayman Islands and Irish legal advice in connection with the transaction, supporting Avolon on this significant financing initiative. The programme further diversifies Avolon’s funding platform and enhances its access to short-term capital markets. Net proceeds from the issuance under the commercial paper programme are expected to be used for general corporate purposes, which may include aircraft acquisitions and the repayment of existing indebtedness.
The transaction was led by Anthony Philp, Co-head of the Cayman Islands Asset Finance practice, Shari Howell, Partner and Sorcha O’Keefe, Associate from the firm’s Cayman Islands office, together with Mary O’Neill, Partner and Eoin O’Leary, Of Counsel, from the firm’s Irish office.
Commenting on the transaction, Shari Howell said: “This programme further strengthens Avolon’s funding platform and demonstrates the continued importance of diversified financing solutions for leading aircraft lessors. We are delighted to have supported Avolon on another significant milestone in its ongoing growth strategy.”
