Richard O’Mahony

Richard is a Partner in Maples and Calder’s Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group’s Dublin office.

Richard’s areas of expertise include advising on the establishment, authorisation, operation, and maintenance of both Irish regulated funds, including UCITS and AIFs, as well as unregulated investment funds. His comprehensive knowledge and strategic insights have made him a trusted advisor to a diverse range of clients, including fund service providers such as promoters, investment managers, AIFMs, administrators, depositaries, and counterparties.

Richard has advised on numerous high-profile and complex deals for some of the world’s largest hedge funds and sponsors of private credit, private equity, direct lending and real asset/ infrastructure funds, in addition to large alternative UCITS umbrellas targeting retail and institutional investors. Richard has been instrumental in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, ensuring compliance and optimal operational efficiency for his clients.

Richard’s joined the Maples Group in 2014 when he joined as a trainee, qualifying in 2017 and joining the Funds & Investment Management team. Since then, Richard has played a pivotal role in the team, contributing significantly to the firm’s success and reputation in the funds and investment management space.
