OVERVIEW

Joanna is partner in the Maples and Calder's Finance team in the Maples Group's London office. She is also co-head of the firm's British Virgin Islands Funds & Investment Management practice. She deals with a wide variety of finance, banking and corporate law matters involving BVI and Cayman Islands companies and partnerships, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, and real estate, project and asset financings.  She also advises BVI investment funds, in particular the establishment and maintenance of hedge funds and private equity funds.

BACKGROUND

Joanna joined the Maples Group in 2006.  She trained with SJ Berwin LLP, and subsequently worked at IPC Media Limited in London.  Joanna has been recommended by Legal 500, where she is listed as a Next Generation lawyer and described as, "a shining star".  She is also known for being "responsive and very efficient at handling transactions" as well as providing "consistently excellent service...her pro-active approach to managing transactions sets her above competitors time and again".
