Cherrin is Of Counsel in Maples and Calder’s Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team in the Maples Group’s Singapore office. She has over a decade of experience in commercial litigation and is qualified in Singapore, England and Wales and the British Virgin Islands. She specialises in cross-border shareholder and partnership disputes, take-private fair value appraisal litigation, and insolvency related litigation.
She regularly advises on a range of issues in commercial disputes, including shareholder remedies and winding up and unfair prejudice claims, various forms of interim relief including disclosure and freezing applications, and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. Her expertise extends to advising on contentious fund and corporate matters including breaches of fund/constitutional documents, claims by preferred redemption shareholders and other contentious issues at board or shareholder meetings. She has also acted in a number of high profile and complex restructurings in Asia involving offshore schemes of arrangement and has advised on various creditor protection issues including their rights to collateral/security, clawback rights, debt recovery, and priority claims in a liquidation scenario.
Cherrin joined Maples and Calder in 2017. Prior to that, she was a senior associate at a top tier disputes law firm in Singapore where she regularly attended court and worked alongside senior counsels on complex, bilingual litigation and arbitrations, and other senior partners on multi-jurisdictional advisory work on regulatory matters. Apart from complex commercial litigation and insolvency, Cherrin has a keen interest in international arbitration and is an accredited member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
