OVERVIEW

Philip is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office. He specialises in the structuring, formation and ongoing operation of Cayman Islands investment funds. He represents numerous private equity firms and fund managers on the establishment of fund structures, seed capital arrangements, restructurings, acquisitions and disposals, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, downstream transactions and fund investment realisations. Philip also advises on compliance matters for the funds and their operators and managers.

BACKGROUND

Philip joined the Maples Group in 2012 and was elected as a partner in 2015. He was previously a senior counsel at another international law firm in the Cayman Islands. Before that, he worked for Clifford Chance and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in London, advising private equity firms, investment banks and corporate clients. He has been recognised as a leading lawyer in IFLR1000.
