Caroline is global co-head of Maples and Calder’s Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team and is based in the Cayman Islands office.
She advises debtors, banks, funds, bondholders, directors, investors and insolvency practitioners on complex domestic and cross-border insolvency, restructuring and commercial litigation matters. Her experience includes contentious and non-contentious restructurings, liquidations, schemes of arrangement, investment fund wind downs, shareholder, director and board disputes, investment fund litigation and Cayman Islands appraisal rights and fair value proceedings.
An experienced advocate, Caroline regularly appears before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, including its Financial Services Division, as well as the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal. She has acted in several of the Cayman Islands’ most significant cross-border restructuring, insolvency, appraisal rights and commercial litigation matters including Ocean Rig, 58.com, 51job, eHi Car Services, Sina Corporation, Charitable DAF Holdco v Patrick & Ors; Mastec v Pelletier & Ors.
Caroline joined the Maples Group in 2007 and was elected as a partner in 2016. In 2023, Caroline was appointed global co-head of the Dispute Resolution & Insolvency practice where she plays a key role in driving growth, collaboration and development of the global practice. Prior to joining the Maples Group, Caroline practised with A&L Goodbody in Dublin, Ireland.
Caroline is ranked by Chambers Global, recognised as a Lexology Index’s Thought Leader for Restructuring & Insolvency and a Leading Individual by Legal500. Caroline received the Restructuring of the Year Award and Energy Deal of the Year Award from M&A Advisors and the Innovation in Cross-Border Insolvency and Restructuring Award from Global Restructuring Review (GRR) for her work on the landmark cross-border Ocean Rig restructuring. Similarly, the firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency team is ranked in GRR 30, recognising it among the world’s leading restructuring and insolvency practices.
