Our Bursary Scheme in Jersey has been carefully crafted to grant students the best possible legal work-experience and ongoing support during their university years. Successful students will spend an annual two-week placement during each of their summer vacation periods after completing every year of their university undergraduate degrees.
During these two-week placements, we make every effort to ensure that students become immersed in the growing team in the Jersey office, whilst exposing them to an interesting and diverse range of work. We provide students with a clear structure for each of their placements, which includes a number of scheduled activities, workshops and team socials. On top of the placement, our students receive ongoing support and mentorship from key members of the team whilst completing their studies.
Successful students will receive a financial contribution towards their university studies, which will be paid to them in quarterly instalments.
We are looking for proactive individuals who have a willingness to become part of our growing presence in Jersey, and who want to build a foundation for their career in law.
Applications for our bursary scheme open on 1 October each year, and close on 30 November.
We encourage applications from Channel Islands residents considering a career in law who are either:
We expect university students on the bursary scheme and applying for the bursary scheme to be obtaining a 2:1 classification of degree or above. Students who have obtained bursaries from other law firms will not be eligible.
“The Maples’ bursary scheme offers a fantastic opportunity to school leavers from Jersey to fully experience working life as a Jersey lawyer at Maples. We have developed a structured programme for our bursary students, which applies both while they are attending their work experience placements in the Maples’ office and also while they are undertaking their studies.”
“It is exciting to be working alongside our bursary students to develop the breadth of talent that is available in Jersey and to provide support and guidance as the bursary students progress through their university studies. The experience they will gain while they are bursary students with Maples provides an excellent basis for their future legal careers.”
