OVERVIEW

Philip is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office. He works closely with hedge fund managers and their onshore counsel, advising on the structuring and ongoing maintenance of hedge funds.  He also advises on the formation of private equity funds and shareholder arrangements relating to investments made by such funds.  Philip has represented large financial institutions and investment managers, including well-known sponsors of private equity and hedge funds, in North America, Latin America and Asia.

BACKGROUND

Philip joined the Maples Group in 2012 and has over 18 years' experience as an offshore investment funds lawyer.  Prior to joining he worked for Paul Weiss in Hong Kong, specialising in investment funds, theme park and casino related investments, and general corporate transactions.  Philip has often been named by The International Who's Who Legal as a leading lawyer in private funds and recognised as a leading Cayman Islands lawyer in IFLR1000.  He has also been recommended in Legal 500 and featured in Latin Lawyer 250.
