Position: Assistant Fund Accountant – Fund Administration 
Location: Hong Kong

About the Role
The Assistant Fund Accountant reports to the Vice President and provides fund administration services to a portfolio of funds, mainly hedge funds.

Primary responsibilities include:  

Fund Accounting Work

  • Assisting the Fund Accountant (FA), Senior Fund Accountant (SFA), AVP, VP or SVP with the setting up of new funds and on-going matters in a timely manner;
  • Assisting the FA, SFA, AVP,  VP or SVP with the obtaining of necessary compliance information for approval;
  • Assisting the FA, SFA, AVP,  VP or SVP to ensure the proprietary database is completed with accurate data by the take-on point of the client;
  • Updating the database as relevant events occur (change in directors, change in service providers);
  • Assisting the FA, SFA, AVP,  VP or SVP with transactional accounting and preparing low complexity NAV packages in accordance with MaplesFS policies and procedures;
  • Assisting in a large volume of routine and straight forward transactions including data input of standard journal entries in the accounting system.

Client Work and Client Services

  • Developing effective working relationships with the appropriate level of client staff;
  • Delivering value to clients by consistently providing high-quality work;
  • Responding promptly and professionally to requests for assistance.

Billing and Receivables

  • Assisting with raising and sending invoices to clients in a timely manner and in accordance with administration agreements.

Training and Development

  • Demonstrating a commitment to acquiring new capabilities, constantly striving to improve performance;
  • Proactively seeking out and taking advantage of training and development opportunities;
  • Developing a continuous learning plan with the consent of the VP and SVP.

Risk Management

  • Acting in accordance with legal, regulatory and internal risk management requirements, including complying with all MFS policies and procedures and internal guidance notes;
  • Reporting business issues to the SFA, VP or SVP.

Business Development

  • Understanding and speaking knowledgeably about the firm’s services and their value.

Business Management

  • Delivering engagements on time, and to the client’s full satisfaction;
  • Exhibiting integrity and confronting unethical actions;
  • Being aware of the sensitivity of information and treat it appropriately;
  • Demonstrating a high productivity level in work through time and cost control. 


  • Ad-hoc projects, including reporting, as required.


What You Bring
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Degree Holder in Accounting, Finance or Economics; 
  • Good English communication skills and be able to speak Cantonese. Mandarin will be a plus.
  • Relevant working experience in fund accounting is an advantage, though it is not essential. Candidates with working experience in general accounting will also be considered.
  • A team player with positive attitude to face clients and offer work-related assistance to clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to handle work/client deliverables with tight deadlines.
