An acknowledged expert in banking and finance law, John advises a wide range of domestic, EU / EEA and international financial institutions, including banks and private equity houses, on transactional and regulatory issues. He also advises on security and contractual issues in the prime brokerage market. John is a leading member of the Maples Group's Financial Services Regulation team and provides counsel to financial institutions on a range of matters, including anti-money laundering / counter terrorist finance compliance, conduct of business liability, payment services and passporting issues. He has also acted in a number of mergers and acquisitions transactions in the financial services sector, as well as in a number of bank transfer schemes.

John joined the Maples Group in 2013. He has practised as a banking lawyer for many years in leading firms in London and Dublin, before becoming a senior counsel in 2011. John is also the author of the leading Irish text on Banking Law and regularly contributes to international legal publications and conferences.
