Expertise

Colin is a partner of Maples and Calder' Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office. Colin has extensive experience in a range of international corporate rescues, including insolvencies, rehabilitations and restructurings, as well as commercial disputes, including, trusts disputes, and shareholder / investment disputes.  His expertise also includes fraud, asset tracing and recovery, professional negligence, shipping, and intellectual property.  Colin regularly appears as advocate in the Grand Court, the Court of Appeal of the Cayman Islands, and on final appeal to the Privy Council.

Background

Colin joined the Maples Group in 1998 and was elected as a partner in 2007.  He previously worked for Linklaters in London.  Colin was appointed as Queen's Counsel (QC) in 2013, and has been recommended in Legal 500, Chambers Global and Who's Who Legal.

BAR ADMISSIONS

1994 - Admitted as an English solicitor and subsequently as a solicitor-advocate (not practising)

1999 - Admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands

2006 – Admitted as a solicitor in St Christopher & Nevis

2013 - Appointed as Queen's Counsel (QC)

Professional Activities

Colin is a Consulting Editor of the Cayman Islands Law Reports.  He is also a member of the Grand Court Rules Committee and the Insolvency Rules Committee and a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association.
