Applications are invited by the Boston office of the Maples Group for the position of

Senior Attorney 

The Senior Attorney ("SA") reports to the MaplesFS Assistant General Counsel (the "AGC") and will also work directly with the MaplesFS General Counsel (the "GC").

Key duties will include: managing a team of junior attorneys which will be responsible for drafting and negotiation of all client contracts across numerous jurisdictions; lead/oversee negotiations with clients regarding documentation; train junior attorneys to handle direct negotiations with client counsel; draft bespoke agreements and precedents for new service offerings; review and negotiate third party vendor agreements entered into by the MaplesFS Group; draft and review policy and procedure documents; conduct legal research regarding new developments and regulatory issues; and perform additional functions as required by the GC or AGC.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of legal contracts and will have experience with drafting and editing contracts, leading negotiations and successfully closing transactions. Strong drafting and communication skills are essential. This post requires attention to detail, professionalism and good organizational skills, and a team-first mentality. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teammates and with others across the organization is required. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who able to use his/her own initiative, work well under pressure to meet deadlines and be able to maintain confidentiality at all times. Overtime may be required at short notice and occasionally on weekends.

EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must be an Attorney qualified to practice law in Massachusetts (or eligible for a corporate counsel exemption). He/she must have at least 6 years’ of experience in corporate law with a recognised law firm or as in-house counsel.
