OVERVIEW

Oliver is an of counsel in Maples and Calder's Corporate and Funds & Investment Management teams in the Maples Group's Dubai office. He handles a broad range of Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands corporate work, including equity raisings, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private equity transactions and fund investments. He frequently advises emerging and growth companies, entrepreneurs, sovereign wealth funds, hotel and resort owners and real estate developers. Oliver primarily advises clients in the UAE, across the Middle East and in North Africa.  

BACKGROUND

Oliver joined the Maples Group in 2018, having practised BVI and Cayman Islands law in the UAE since 2015 at another offshore firm.  He previously practised English and US law at Latham & Watkins LLP in Dubai and at Slaughter and May in London, and spent time on secondment at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York. Oliver also taught Introduction to Law and the Legal Profession at the University of London.
