OVERVIEW

Jo is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office.  She specialises in the establishment and operation of Cayman Islands investment funds, and has a broad range of hedge fund, private equity fund and investment platform clients.  Her background as a commercial barrister in London combined with 15 years of investment funds expertise, gives her a unique perspective on the challenges and issues faced by investment fund clients and she frequently advises on complex fund reorganisations, spin outs and upper tier restructures.

BACKGROUND

Jo joined the Maples Group in 2007 and was elected as a partner in 2012.  Prior to this, she established a successful practice at the Commercial Bar in London, where she was consistently ranked by legal directories as a leading barrister in her field.  Jo has spoken at a number of industry conferences and regularly contributes to publications on fund related matters.  She was part of a small group that was instrumental in the establishment of the Cayman Islands Chapter of 100 Women in Finance and served as the initial co-chair of the Chapter. Jo was profiled by the Hedge Fund Journal in 2015 and again in 2023 as one of 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds and has been ranked across consecutive years by IFLR 1000, Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and Who's Who Legal.
